About the event
Come pursue racial justice in Boystown and beyond. Allies and African American LGBTQ+ are coming together through Lighthouse Foundation to end Center on Halsted’s CEO Modesto “Tico” Valle’s continued employment of a racist security firm, Walsh Security, at Center on Halsted.
This organizing work is being done through Lighthouse Foundation’s organizing arm, the Coalition of Allies for Racial Equity (CARE). Allies of African American LGBTQ+ folks who want to see racial injustice within the LGBTQ+ community challenged and ended are encouraged to participate.

We are asking that Center on Halsted staff and board of directors do not attend this meeting*.
*Lighthouse Foundation has named as its latest organizing focus the Center on Halsted CEO Modesto “Tico” Valle, for his employment of Walsh Security at the Center. To be clear, our issue is not with rank and file Center on Halsted staff, who work tirelessly to serve the community [despite his POC staff turnover]. However, one purpose of our organizing meetings is to provide those impacted by Valle’s policies at the Center with an environment where they feel free to speak to their concerns, fears, and hopes. While we will meet with COH leaders in the future, at this time, we ask COH staff and members of its Board of Directors not to attend Foundation meetings.
