Our Values

Passionate About Jesus

We value community that is centered on the life, teachings, and ministry of Jesus Christ. The Lighthouse Church of Chicago asserts, throughout the life of our community, the reality of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, full resurrection, and second coming. In addition, we strive to help people live out the implications of this divine narrative in daily life. We recognize that God, in Christ Jesus, has done something for us that we could not do for ourselves—Christ has reconciled us to God and neighbor. As a ministry, we work to encourage others to live into this blessed reality, which is a distinctively Christian message of hope, healing, and possibility.

Serious About Justice

We value the radical inclusion of all God’s children in the family of God. The Lighthouse Church of Chicago recognizes that liberation, inclusion, and love of God/neighbor are at the heart of Christ’s mission. To this end we affirm, as God’s children, people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, races, classes, ability levels, and ages. We believe that God’s kin- dom is revealed each moment that all are able to love. We will speak out against all forms of discrimination, particularly anti-homosexuality, racism, sexism, and economic inequality. Lastly, we will pay special attention to the ways in which these constructs intersect.
